The ATC-165 project is designed to enhance Türkiye's seismic safety and resilience by initiating a strategy to reduce earthquake risks in Istanbul. The ATC-165 Seismic Technical Advisory Council (TAC) has focused its efforts on the following key objectives:

- Identifying major challenges and gaps in improving the seismic safety of residential buildings in Istanbul.
-Highlighting promising initiatives already underway in Türkiye that could be expanded for greater impact.
- Exploring successful solutions from other countries, including technical methods, policy measures, and financing strategies, and assessing their feasibility in the local context.
- Adapting these solutions to Türkiye’s specific needs and linking them to recommended pathways for further exploration.
