Minimum In-Term Grade Requirement
At its meeting No. 60 held on October 21, 2026, the Faculty Board discussed the agenda item on setting a minimum threshold for the “in-term average grade” (calculated from in-term assessment components such as homework, projects, quizzes and midterm exams) in courses offered in the undergraduate programs of the Faculty’s three departments. The Board decided that the in-term average grade shall be at least 30 points.
Accordingly, unless the instructor specifies a higher threshold, students whose in-term average grade is below 30 out of 100 will receive a VF letter grade.
*In addition, for undergraduate courses in the Department of Geomatics Engineering, students whose end-of-term grade is below 30 out of 100 will receive an FF letter grade, unless the instructor specifies a higher threshold.
*This requirement does not apply to the course “INS 112/112E – Earth Sciences for Civil Engineering,” which faculty members of the Faculty of Mines teach to students of the Department of Civil Engineering.
