Fire Evacuation Simulation is Performed on the Digital Model of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Building

The purpose of the Building Information Modelling Based Fire Evacuation Simulation (YBIMS) project is to virtualize the human behaviors, environment and process steps during a fire evacuation to improve the decision making process for fire evacuation scenarios. All stages, methods and the conceptual model will be tested at the Istanbul Technical University, Civil Engineering Building.

Researching New Hybrid Treatment Technology for Wastewater Treatment

Within the scope of the project, it is planned to increase the efficiency of the membrane system by combining the MBR system and the IFAS system into a single system. In this direction, by using the film fixation feature offered by IFAS, filtration with low AKM in the membrane tank will increase the fluxes.

New Liquefaction Mitigation Technique, Induced Partial Saturation (IPS), is Investigated

In the scope of this research, liquefaction response of sand sites under an existing superstructure and mitigated by IPS will be investigated through numerical modeling, and the analysis of the behavior will be also explored under cyclic simple shear strains. Formulation of a mathematical methodology/model is aimed to predict excess pore water pressure ratio and volumetric strain in partially saturated sands in free field or under a structure during earthquake motions.

Two Projects Started within the Scope of TÜBİTAK Earthquake Special Call

In the first project, reinforced concrete column tests and building-scale structural analyzes will be carried out to determine the acceptable damage criteria for the "Repairable Damage" situation and to determine the earthquake performances after repairing structural members that are damaged at different levels. In the other project, the soil-structure interaction will be examined on liquefied soils, and its kinematic and inertial effects will be investigated.

"Strengthening the Environmental Inspection Capacity of the Marmara Sea Basin Project" Started

In order to solve the mucilage problem and to control pollution in the Sea of Marmara, an effective and basin-specific environmental control system should be established and implemented in accordance with the recently stated action plan. In this respect, “Strengthening the Environmental Inspection Capacity of the Marmara Sea Basin Project” was launched in October 2021 by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of TR in order to increase the effectiveness of environmental inspection practices carried out and to determine the measures to be taken in order to ensure unity in practice in the "Marmara Sea Hydrological Basin", which constitutes the sub-basins of the Marmara and the Susurluk River Basins that discharge into the Marmara Sea.
